Social Media Galore!

Social Media Galore!

Once, I thought, it would be nice to share something that you worked (hard) on. I remember one of my professor told me (well, the class) that it's good to build an "online image" by posting your works through various medium depending on the type of work.

Well...

Hurrrraaayyy for Social Media!

I've been using some before, like Facebook for example, although it's a private one but I decided to make an account to more... so here they are:

We are all familiar with YouTube right? The home of new born stars haha...
Well, I have couple of videos to share so yeah, there!
Subscribe guys! ;)

Another video sharing site?! I know but I wanted to have a separate account for videos I made/edited and stuff. Also, I've seen and heard good feeds on the features and services of Vimeo so I bet there's nothing wrong in signing up.
For now, there's just one video uploaded in this account but you might as well want to check my future uploads and follow me. :)

Soundcloud
Well, I'm also new to this. I love music.. I partly know how to sing.. I mix/arrange.. I play instruments.. and most of all I would like to share it. PERFECT SITE!
Btw, you could really listen to good quality music here. Follow and listen? ;)

Pinterest
Pin all you want! It's like an online cork board. I rarely pin stuff but I have some "repins" on my board that interest me -- well I think that's how they got the name of the site. Fashion, DIY, food, photos, name it! It's all on the virtual boards. Interesting?

Twitter
Your daily dose of short thoughts!
If you can understand me (Filipina here haha!) feel free to follow me :)

Side note: I'm using Tweetdeck for my tweets. You may organize your tweets or people or hashtags you follow plus manage your Twitter accounts (if you have many). There's also a desktop application available. Of course, you may want to keep track of your friends' or important people's tweets! :)

Last but not the least is Blogger of course! I may not be regularly blogging but I share some great experiences of mine through my posts here :)

Woooo! That's quite a lot (nilubos lang siguro dahil libre). Now I guess I should take more effort in managing and updating them.

Meet you at these sites?

"Japorms"

"Japorms"

Well... I don't know exactly when the term "japorms" originated but it's a slang term for "porma" which is also another slang term for having style in clothing. What?! haha. Porma literally means form but usually used as a jargon for styling in the 80's or 90's [I think haha].

For the past Halloween and November holidays, my vacation was just plain. The rest of the family wasn't able to join my mother in visiting our deceased love-ones since travelling to province without a car and with a toddler is quite hard and impractical.

So.

My little brother Koko [3yrs. old] likes seeing pictures of people and also of himself. Yes. which also means he likes to "magpa-picture". I was thinking of something to do [good thing I don't have school works] and there came an idea. :)

vain little bro + me [nothing to do] = photoshoot! ^^,

A Make Believe Achievement :) .. "hashtag" Skechers

A Make Believe Achievement :) ..

"hashtag" Skechers

Hello!

It's been a long time since my last post. It's because I've been busy with acads and all that "agaw-buhay" preparation for our dance competition.

Late nights. daily training. damn tiring! --- also almost no time for online socials

Last October 13, LUCID Dance Troupe competed at the glorious (wow ha :D) Skechers Street Dance Battle 8 at SM San Lazaro. We are of the last leg of eliminations before the most awaited finals on November 17 at the MOA Arena.

So this is what it's all about.

Fifteen college schools competed along with us. Only four will make it to the finals. The great Philippine All-Stars members are the judges. Hundreds were watching. We are taking our school's name. Pressure and at the same time excitement ran through me especially that it's my first time to compete to Skechers also. Wait! It's my 3rd year in LUCID already so why only now? -- haha Idon'tknow. So there!

To all who made us feel we're not alone in the battle, a very big THANK YOU to you! :) <3

Breaking the record: It's the biggest number of supporters as far as I know for a Lucid competition :)

Photos of LUCID before the time! :)

Look at that crowd! That's us on the Black&White SWAT costume :)

Hosted by the Sam YG!

Skechers Mob dance to start up!

...

This is it!

@SkechersPH shared this instagram photo of us on Twitter with a caption
"Get ready for De La Salle Canlubang!"

In action :)

Check out the full routine :)

Dom and Fianne represent! Freestyle battle

Me and Ramon were the Streetstylers. Flaunt those Skechers shoes!
Note: The shoes we're wearing are so comfortable! Yes. Seriously we wanted to take them haha. How we wish it's a give-away for all Streetstylers =))

At backstage with Ramon

Before announcing the 4 finalist, the winners of the battle and streetstyle were first mentioned. The representatives of UDM (Universidad De Manila) won the Skechers Freestyle - seems to be in home court because of crowd cheers haha =))

For the Skechers Male Streetstyler, Bulacan State University's Hiroyuki Siki got the spot (nice name, wonder if he's Japanese). There's a male streetstyler so definitely there's a female streetstyler and that goes to (and still can't believe right now) to me! Seriously? I even slipped my foot and *wa poise* fell during rehearsals (haha). Everything went like a black-out to me at that moment. Really, had nothing to say but a "Thank You" :)

Happy to see this tweet that even other DLSC students retweeted it! :)

My prize? The limited edition Skechers Dance Battle 8 shirt and a pass at the finals. Cool :)

(I hope it's true haha. An event guy told me they'll contact me because streetstylers are supposed to walk in S shoes again during the finals. I feel hyped whenever I'm thinking of it!)

Now, the much awaited announcement...

I congratulate the schools who completed the 16 colleges to compete for the finals! They are:

  • FEU East Asia
  • Universidad De Manila
  • Olivarez College
  • Immaculate Conception International

Here are the finalist on the previous legs:

Sept. 29
  • Microlink Institute
  • PATTS College of Aeronautics
  • UP Los BaƱos
  • Lyceum of the Philippines Laguna
Sept. 30
  • Ateneo De Manila
  • UP Manila
  • De La Salle University -- wooo! :)
  • Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila
Oct. 7
  • La Consolacion College
  • De La Salle College of St. Benilde -- wooo! again :)
  • Assumption College
  • FEU Manila

Awww, no us? It's alright! :)

Are we really unfortunate for not winning? I guess not. The whole experience is worth our sweats! We are loved. That's enough for me. We might not made it to the finals but we've had our moment. Everything's unforgettable. So much to be thankful of.

LUCID. Proud to be part of the experience :)

Thank you to our choreographer, Kuya Mav Simangan! Such a big help :)

Friends and DLSC family greeted us :)

One of the boys haha =))

special thanks to Mama and sis for supporting us :) love love <3

Super tired but I enjoyed a lot :)

btw this is the shirt I got from being the leg's Female Skechers Streestyler ;)

Pin - Up Pretties!

Pin-Up Pretties!

Wait! I'm not a fashion blogger :p

Last July 26. I, together with the Tripod Society team, had a photo shoot at Georgia Club in Sta. Rosa, Laguna. It's one of the organization's highlight activity. The theme of the shoot is "pin-up." You know? nautical with kind of "modernized" Marilyn Monroe style.

I'm in my Junior year already and it's been 3 years since I thought of being a member of "Tripod Society" - a college organization of our school for aspiring film makers, photographers, creative writers, graphic designers and models. Now...

*tan tana nan!* I'm officially a member, under the label of "photographer."

Fortunate to be part of this activity, I made sure that I'll have fun... and I succeed!. Of course, the activity not only served as an experience and practice for what I like doing, which is taking photos, it also made me feel great because I was able to work, be a student leader and made new friends at the same time.

So enough of that. Here are samples of photos I've taken.

As Lenses Became Eyes

As Lenses Became Eyes

Hello! I want to share this great movie to you, which is part of my "like" list. It is entitled The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas. I've discovered this movie before since I'm doing some research on Asa Butterfield upon seeing the movie Hugo, that he himself played the main character. I browsed on his filmography and that's it! I saw the plot and find it interesting [also I'm kind of into this films that involve history/drama and all that stuff, you know what I mean :)] so that made me watch it.

Let me share this clip from the movie itself. [I'm pertaining to 1:46-8:30 ;)]

The scene is... a boy, Bruno (Asa Butterfield), felt miserable because he misses their old house, old neighborhood where he can play with his friends, so he decided to make a swing to have at least some sort of fun. He likes exploring. He wanted to see what's behind that "farm" and wonders if there can be anyone whom he can play with. The "farm" is an extermination camp where Nazi gas-chamber-to-death the imprisoned Jews. While swinging, he noticed a smoke coming from afar (to what he calls "farm"). He tried to peep by stepping at the swing tire but he loses balance and fell off. Pavel (David Hayman), a Jew slave, came to rescue him. While treating Bruno's wound, they've had a small conversation but a meaningful one, especially to Pavel. Meanwhile the mother came, asked what happen and later told Bruno to go to his room. She said "Thank you" to Pavel and then left.

Based on how we analyze films during discussions on our VIDPROD (video production) class, I shall view and share with you how the "tech" is related to the message of each scenes. ^^D

Gretel and Lt. Kotler [image from Google]          At the part where Bruno is lying under a tree, first there was a full/crane shot of him and then a POV shot (Point of View) of him staring at the tree. That probably shows how he reminisce and felt miserable. Then he stood up and saw his sister, Gretel and Lt. Kotler (there's a long shot there, again it's his POV and then a medium shot, MS, to view closer). He went to them and then asked for a tire. The conversation of Bruno and Lt. Kotler have Over-the-Shoulder shots, OTS. It shows the relation of the two person talking to each other. As you might notice, the sister is seen only through full shots of the three of them, MS with Lt. Kotler and only one close-up but through the depth of Lt. Kotler's arms [3:01]. It show that she is depending on Lt. Kotler and not have a clear stand for herself. It probably means that she's now into the Nazi Propaganda because of all the flirting and the amazed view of a "German soldier" to Lt. Kotler.

Bruno on the swing [image from Google][at 3:45] As Bruno and Pavel, goes to the storage house to get a tire, there are tracking and dolly shots. There's also a POV of Bruno to Pavel [3:48] because of the Low angle shot. It shows that he just follows Pavel. The next scene is when Bruno is on the swing. I'm amazed on how smooth the camera follows Bruno as he swings. I believe it's hard to control! :) There is a quick, I'm not sure if it's a High Angle or Overhead shot, seen coming from the tree trunk above. Then there's a long shot of the trees where in smoke builds up from afar. There's a low angle shot of Bruno trying to stand at the swing. As he falls off, there's an oblique angle shot or a some sort of "camera fell also" shot to show how Bruno fell. It's like the POV of Bruno. There's also a subtle but a quick shot of the tire from underneath, it's like the reverse of an overhead shot. As the tire passed by the camera from below, it made me think that it shows how fast the fall might be. Then a POV shot of Bruno again is there when the scene became blurry and is tilted and in oblique angle as if the viewers also fell of and lay on the ground.

Pavel treating the wound of Bruno [image from Google]
As Pavel put first aid on Bruno's wounded knee, an establishing shot was first seen. It's the FS of them at the kitchen. As they converse, some are OTS shots and some are FS but the setting is symbolic because Bruno is on top of the table while Pavel is sitting at one corner peeling potatoes. It shows that the image of Pavel is very poor and pityful. Also the shots on Pavel is in high angle from Bruno's position. As Bruno's mom came, she let Bruno go and thanked Pavel. The shot is not OTS but a close-up shot. She means it but it doesn't show the relation of her talking to Pavel, then she leaves. The last full shot was on Pavel, looking at her and then continued peeling the potatoes. For me, Pavel, at least, felt the care and the "no margin state" that time even though he is a slave and a Jew.

Movie poster [image from Google]

All conversation shots follow the 180 degree rule. Also some shots follow the Rule of Thirds to make it not boring to see. A lot of POV shots were on the scenes of the movie so that viewers could get attached to how Bruno sees things during Holocaust and how he lives in those times. The shots aim to let viewers be on the scenes, like as if they are there (or be like Bruno). The movie basically shows the life of a boy and how his young mind tries to adapt to his state.

For those who haven't watched it yet, I hope this gave you the interest. Happy watching guys! [I mean not literal because it's a drama, hehe] :)
